He worked with leading Polish performers (Ewa Demarczyk, Marek Grechuta, and others). In 1983, after performances in the UK with the Cracow Radio Symphony Orchestra (under Krzysztof Penderecki), Maciek stayed in the West. Later that year, family ties brought him to South Africa where he lived for nearly a decade. Maciek became a part of the South African music scene including extensive involvement in theater, where he performed as a drummer and percussionist, and composed musical scores for various theater plays and dance presentations. He also worked with various jazz, and African music artists, Winston Mankunku, Robbie Jansen, Basil 'Mannenberg' Coetzee, African Jazz Pioneers, Bruce Cassidy, and his own group BREWERS EAST, among many others. Throughout his stay in South Africa, Maciek was active as a drumset teacher and clinician at several cultural centers around the country including Jazz Workshop, Musical Action For People's Progress (MAPP), 1820 Foundation, and the University of Cape Town.

Since arriving in New York in 1993, Maciek worked mainly with African music artists including Tony Cedras, Morris Goldberg, Hugh Masekela, Bakithi Kumalo, and accompanied many African singers. His collaboration with a Cameroonian singer Kaïssa continues to this day, Maciek produced her first album and has been directing Kaïssa's ensembles.

Afro-Caribbean & Brazilian Rhythms for the Drums us about the wonderfully rich music which is derived from the fusion of the cultures of West-Africa, Europe, and the indigenous Indian cultures of the Caribbean region. Most of the rhythms presented here have evolved from their original multiple percussion origins, and have been applied to the drumset. For each style sample or exercise, the CD contains a performance demo and then a version without the drums for you to play-along. If you want to be a well-rounded, well trained musician, this publication provides the information and exercises that will give you a strong musical foundation in these important genres.
